Karen, what do you look for in a guy?
Looks are important, but the most important thing to me in a guy is the respect he has for me. Respect is #1 always. Then being a great gentleman and treating me like his queen and he will be my king:)
Why did you want to be a 12?
Being a 12 is probably one of the biggest & coolest opportunity any ASU girl would want to take if they had the chance. I fortunately got the chance to try-out, and what do you know! Now I’m a Tempe12 Girl !!!:D I just love meeting new people and getting introduced to the huge social media world. Just knowing that my name will be out there makes me feel even greater! This experience is once in a lifetime, and I cannot wait for the upcoming 2013-2014 year with my other 11 beautiful Tempe12 ladies!!
What do you want to be when you grow up/ how will being a 12 help?
I want to become a P.A. (Physician Assistant). Hopefully, I will meet people that either have their own practice, or even through our community service in Tempe12; if we help at a clinic, I’ll introduce myself, give my best impression and just let them know that I would love to get more in depth within the medical field. It’s all about having beauty & brains!
Tell us something about you that people wouldn’t expect from just looking at you?
I am a soccer player!!! I’ve played soccer ever since I was 6 years old. I was a dancer and I played soccer at the same time, but I was less girly and chose soccer over dancing. I am a very aggressive player. You might see me wearing a gorgeous dress and amazingly tall stilettos, but on the field I am a rough girl and go all out. I take my game very serious. I LOVE SOCCER. Real Madrid
What is you Favorite place on campus?
The MU is my favorite place on campus because it’s in the middle of campus and so many people walk by. I always like to look at what people do. Some are weird or funny. Or all of a sudden you see a girl crash her bike against a boy that was riding his skateboard and they both fall. Gets me all the time haha
Karen, what is your major and how did you decided on that?
My major is Family & Human Development. I have always been interested in the medical field since I was young, so I kept my decision ever since. I enjoy helping those who are in need. Becoming a P.A. will make my dreams come true:)
What is the best trip you have ever taken?
This past spring break I went to Cabo, San Lucas and I had the time of my life. So many crazy memories. So many pictures with funny stories behind it. Went completely YOLO on the trip, which made my trip a billion times more fun. I met so many new and fun outgoing people! It was just a great experience with amazing friends I will never forget.
How have things changed since you’ve become a 12?
I definitely became more responsible. I’ve been working out a lot, eating very healthy (keeping my diet clean), working a lot. I went from not having a job to all of a sudden having 2 jobs, and I’m loving it!
When looking at all your college memories thus far, which one is your favorite college memory?
Soundwave music festival my freshman year was insane! Kaskade and so many other great artist came to Big surf waterpark and it was just an amazing show. I went with one of my best friends, Michelle, we raged our faces off! And since I LOVEEE to Dance, I danced the whole night til the morning light;)
Tell us about your best and worst date?
My worst date was back in high school, when this nice guy invited me to the movies and he told me that the movie started at 7 when it actually started at 8. I waited for a while outside of the movie theater and then he came along 20 min later and told me that he bought my ticket and then lost it. I ended up having to pay for my own ticket and the worst part of all was that I didn’t even know the movie we were going to watch was a scary movie. I HATEEE scary movies, so I ended up leaving the theater after a while and he stayed there lol
Why did you decided on asu?
My aunt graduated from ASU when I was 12. I came to her graduation and I fell in love with the campus and everything at ASU. I was so excited when I saw my aunt walking up to receive her diploma. Since then I said that I wanted to come to this lovely & hot university;)
Tell us about where you grew up
I was born and raised in Nogales, AZ . It’s a very small town 3 hours down south from Phoenix. Literally on the border. My friends make fun of me and say that I live in a dangerous zone, but honestly it’s not dangerous, the danger begins once you cross that border.
Whats one item Karen can’t live without and why?
Her cellphone! She cannot live without my cellphone. Karen always want to keep in contact with either family and friends if I just sit down right before class and I’m by myself. Or check her facebook through my phone too.
